Today we’re bringing you Shepherd’s Dream, a company that designs all natural wool-filled mattresses, bedding and pillows. The All Wool Mattress is filled with compressed wool batting and encased with a thick, soft, cream colored, blanket wool textile. All of the wool that Shepherd’s Dream uses is from a program called EcoDomestic Wool, which seeks to reverse the trend of under-appreciating domestic wool. They make this clear by paying the EcoDomestic wool grower a fair price for their wool and educating the public about the importance of domestic resources. In addition, Eliana Jantz, founder of Shepherd’s Dream, initiated the still successful Pure Grow Wool Program with California’s Sonoma County Woolgrowers in 1993, developing a criterion of sustainable and responsible wool production practices.

Our 5" thick wool mattress consists of 10 layers of our thick premium eco wool batting and is covered with a certified Organic wool textile. It will compress about 10% during the first 6 months of use, so we recommend sleeping all over the mattress and rotating it on a regular basis. With proper care, this mattress will last for several decades. We can refurbish mattresses after 10, 20 or 30 years upon request.

For complete breathability and greater longevity, we suggest that the wool mattress is placed on a wood slatted frame.
